Yuan Lai is a Ph.D. candidate in urban systems and informatics at New York University (NYU). His research focuses on the intersection of data science, urban systems, and real estate development.
He holds a M.S. in applied urban science and informatics from NYU Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP), a Master’s in urban planning (M.U.P.), and a Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture with a minor in law. Prior to NYU, Yuan practiced as an architect/urban designer in Sadie Architects with Moshe Safdie. He has been involved in large-scale mixed-use development planning and design located in China, USA, Israel, Singapore, and Turkey.
Yuan is a Forefront Fellow with Urban Design Forum, a Data Science Immersion Fellow with Bloomberg, and an Accredited Professional of Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design by U.S. Green Building Council. He serves as a reviewer for leading research journals including PlosONE, Urban Studies, Sustainable Cities and Society, and International Journal of Health Geographics.
